U.S. RE hires capital markets pro

Steven Britton has been named svp, U.S. RE Securities, the investment banking arm of New York-based international financial services and reinsurance brokerage firm U.S. RE Companies. He will be responsible for origination, structuring and placement of structured insurance products, including direct collateralised placements, industry loss warranties (ILWs), reinsurance sidecars and catastrophe bonds.

Britton has more than 18 years of experience as a reinsurance broker, underwriter and capital markets professional, with assignments in Los Angeles, London, New York and Bermuda. He gained senior-level capital markets experience in collateralised reinsurance and insurance-linked securities at Willis Capital Markets and Fox-Pitt Kelton Cochran Caronia Waller.

Previously he worked as a reinsurance broker and capital markets specialist with Aon Capital Markets/Special Risk Services (SRS), focusing on mortgage indemnity and special hazard reinsurance, financial guaranty, and insured asset and mortgage-backed securitisation lines. He also served as an md in ACA Financial Guaranty Corporation's structured insurance group, where he developed and underwrote portfolios of specialty property and aviation risks, ILWs, weather derivatives, residual value insurance and trade credit facilities.
